About Boston Public Garden
The Boston Public Garden was built in 1837 and has become one of the most popular landmarks and tourist attractions in the city. Reflective of the Victorian style of landscape architecture that was popular in the day, the park covers 24 acres and is home to more than 80 species of plants. One of the most popular things to do at the park is to take a ride on the Swan Boats, which have floated on the waters of the Public Garden Lagoon since 1870. There are a number of monuments to famous Bostonians and one dedicated to George Washington situated along the pathways that wind through the park.
