About Coney Island
It’s a beach, an amusement park, playground, gift shop and a carnival all rolled into one. Located on a peninsula in Brooklyn, NY the Atlantic Ocean shore beaches (including Manhattan Beach) and family rides make this a popular destination for all ages. Younger kids might enjoy the vast array of kiddie rides while older kids and adults can enjoy more thrill seeking rides such as the Cyclone roller coaster and parachute jump. In 2014, the Thunderbolt coaster opened which allows riders to experience a 90 degree vertical drop with corkscrew wraps and rolls all within the matter of minutes. One of the nation’s most historic Ferris Wheels resides at Coney Island, built almost 100 years ago, it’s aglow at night in neon colors. The Coney Island boardwalk offers an aquarium as well as arcades and snack shops. Walking around is free but prices vary for rides and museums. Wristbands can range from $20 and up for four hours of unlimited rides.
