About Page Museum – La Brea Tarpits
A natural history museum focusing on prehistoric Los Angeles. Visitors get a glimpse into what Los Angeles was like during the Ice Age. Guests can peer in the windows of the Page Fossil Laboratory and visit life size replicas of saber toothed cats and mammoths. A prehistoric garden features native plants from 10,000 – 40,000 years ago. Visit the eruption of natural asphalt at the La Brea Tar Pits where pockets of bitumen have been bubbling from the ground for thousands of years. Excavation efforts have unearthed preserved fossils and animals which were trapped by the pits thousands of years ago. Most of those discoveries are on display at the Page Museum.
