Adjacent to the park is Hurricane Harbor, a massive 20 acre water park with 13 rides and a kids splashing area with smaller slides. Theatrical shows are also offered for those looking to cool off in air conditioning while taking in family entertainment and each night ends in a celebratory parade. In October, Great America decks out its rides and park with Halloween decorations on the weekends, transforming some of its rides into haunted adventures (not recommended for younger children as the fest can be scary). Fright Fest also features several haunted houses and a “dead mans parade.” Open seasonally early May – end of October.

Reviews of Six Flags Great America
My family LOVES Six Flags Great America. We get the Season Pass every year (which isn’t even much more than a ticket). I have sons of 17 and 12, so we like to go on more of the thrill rides. We really like all the rides there and they are very safe. We also like to go to Hurricane harbor sometimes, and that is really fun as well. Many slides to choose from, as well as my favorite the fairly new drop slides that they have which are awesome. They also have play areas for younger kids. I really like this place. The only problem is that the lines are a little long, but that doesn’t really bother me that much because if you pick the right day to go, there won’t be long lines. This place definitely deserves 5 stars, and great for thrill seekers!
